It seems to me that it's long past overdue for Tidal to get serious about cleaning up the play queue.- Update Date:** 08/10/23 (Thurs) PM 3:00 (GMT +9) (Perhaps sadly, 800-pound gorilla Spotify also has a rather peculiar queue system, and I suppose that gives cover somehow to Tidal.) Having used a lot of different software from a lot of different software houses, it's always been my assumption that some one high-up at Tidal is ego-invested in the quirky, bizarre Tidal queue system. And, of course, in the desktop version, it is possible to delete the previously played tracks manually using multi-select conventions before reshuffling.) If I don't like that shuffle I just click the shuffle button off and then on again and it reshuffles (it's not a smart reshuffle, in that it does not exclude previously played tracks but it's fast enough that you can do it a bunch of times if you don't like how things are shaping up. Once my playlist is in Amazon HD, I can throw one or more playlists into that player's queue and then shuffle them together with a single click.

I save My Daily Discovery mixes, and when they get up near around 500 entries, I use the free tier of Tune My Music to transfer them over to Amazon HD. It can be hard to tell when you're going to accidentally interrupt the current queue by accidentally clicking or touching the wrong place in the interface.)Īs it is, I literally am keeping Amazon HD for much of my desktop playback even though virtually all my discovery is from Tidal. Tidal is my favorite (so far) - but the queue UI is bizarre and extremely inflexible. I've been on 10 subscription stream services since about 2006. Logically it makes sense, but from the UX perspective, it's nonsense. Once we click the "play next" button an actual queue is created and the "Add to play queue" button appears. I'm guessing that if we play a song or an album then, under the hood, a queue doesn't exist yet. From now on the "Add to play queue" button becomes available. if there are 10 tracks and we're listening to the 3rd one, then the item is added between the 3rd and the 5th item, at 4th position).
Then a track/album is added right after the track that's currently playing (e.g. The only thing we can do is to choose "play next". There's no "Add to play queue" button.
